If Osama Bin Laden weren’t already dead, we might fear for his safety purely based on the strength of the cast Kathryn Bigelow is assembling for her (still untitled) “Kill Bin Laden” flick. Oscar winner Mark Boal (“The Hurt Locker“) wrote the script and Joel Edgerton and Jessica Chastain will head a cast that also includes Mark Strong (as a good guy this time…surely?), Jason Clarke, Edgar Ramirez, Kyle Chandler and Chris Pratt. And now the production has added two more to bolster that cast.
The first is Jennifer Ehle — an actress whose career seemed to be picking up steam last year. She had small roles in four impressive movies (“The King’s Speech,” “The Adjustment Bureau,” and “The Ides of March“) and impressed in a slightly more substantial role in “Contagion.” In fact, you could argue that Ehle played a bigger part there than some of the more high-profile names that made it onto the poster (*cough* Marion Cotillard *cough*). We’ll have to see whether she’s as good at fighting fundamental Islamist terrorists as she is at fighting global pandemics.
The second addition probably got a helping hand from one of the other members of the cast — because one of them is his brother. Joel Edgerton‘s big bro Nash will reportedly play a Navy Seal in the movie. Nash Edgerton is best known for his stunt work on a number of blockbusters including “The Matrix” and the “Star Wars” prequels, but when it comes to straight acting he’s mostly stuck to shorts and TV movies. But as a director, he’s made bigger waves by helming “The Square” and this year’s buzzworthy short “Bear.”
EW also suggest that long rumored names like Idris Elba, Tom Hardy and Guy Pearce could all be involved with the project, but that remains unconfirmed at this point. Shooting starts next month with the film gunning for Oscars when it hits theaters on December 19th.
