Jenny Slate, Gillian Anderson & Zach Galifianakis To Star In New Film From 'Wetlands' Director

German director David Wnendt, best known for his films “Look Who’s Back” and “Wetlands,” has lined up a pretty great cast for his next film.

Screen Daily is reporting that Jenny Slate, Alex Sharp, Zach Galifianakis, and Gillian Anderson have signed on to star in the film “The Sunlit Night.” The film follows an American painter, played by Slate, who meets Yasha, played by Sharp, in the Arctic Circle. The unlikely pair both are there for two completely different reasons: Slate’s character is attempting to jumpstart her career, while Yasha is there to bury his father.

Jenny Slate, a “Saturday Night Live” alum, is perhaps best known for her role in “Obvious Child,” but will soon be seen in big-budget fare “Venom” and “Hotel Artemis.” Sharp is a Tony Award-winning actor, for his work in “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time,” but can also be seen in the upcoming films “How to Talk to Girls at Parties” and “The Hustle.”

“The Sunlit Night” is adapted from the Rebecca Dinerstein novel of the same name. Slate is producing the film, along with Fabian Gasmia, Ruben Thorkildsen, Michael B. Clark and Alex Turtletaub.

David Garrett, from Mister Smith Entertainment (handling the upcoming sales of the film in Cannes), had this to say about the film, “It is so refreshing to have a familiar story which is told in such an unfamiliar and original setting. Exciting to have the exuberance of Jenny Slate and Zach Galifiniakis bouncing around the mountains and fjords of Norway.”

No word yet on a release date, but we’ll make sure to keep you posted as we learn more.
