Jessica Chastain To Star In New Streaming Series About Tammy Wynette & George Jones

Jessica Chastain is heading to TV. And she’s going to play one of the most iconic country music singers of all time.

According to Variety, Chastain is set to star in “George & Tammy,” a new limited series that will follow the life of Tammy Wynette and her marriage with fellow country music star, George Jones. Chastain will play Wynette in the upcoming streaming series, which will debut exclusively on Spectrum’s platform for nine months before heading to on ViacomCBS’ forthcoming streaming service and Paramount Network.

The new series is based on the book “The Three of Us: Growing Up with Tammy and George,” by author Georgette Jones, Wynette’s daughter. “George & Tammy” is set to be written by Abe Sylvia, who previously worked on series such as “Dead to Me,” “Hap & Leonard,” “The Affair,” and “Nurse Jackie.” He’s actually the writer of the upcoming feature “The Eyes of Tammy Faye,” which also stars Jessica Chastain.

“George & Tammy” is yet another interesting career choice for Chastain. The award-winning actress has spent the last couple of years appearing in a superhero film (“X-Men: Dark Phoenix”), a horror film (“IT: Chapter Two”), and most recently, an action thriller (“Ava”). This comes after making her name in films such as “Zero Dark Thirty,” “The Help,” “Interstellar,” and “The Tree of Life.” And her upcoming film slate is just as diverse, with features such as the female spy film “355,” the aforementioned biopic “The Eyes of Tammy Faye,” and the video game adaptation “The Division.”
