Joe Pesci Watches 'Home Alone' Google Ad In A New, Meta Commercial & We Couldn't Be Happier

Remember when Macaulay Culkin revisited his “Home Alone” character Kevin McAllister for a fun, nostalgic Google Home commercial? Of course you do because everyone and their mother shared it on your social media feed, accompanied by some sort of “OMFG!” caption. Well, Google went and outdone itself for the new Home ad (presumably for the Super Bowl), as the tech giant was able to get Joe Pesci to come back.

In a new ad for Google Home, the tech company goes meta, as it shows the 75-year-old acting legend sitting around some friends as they watch the Culkin ad from Christmas. It’s basically Pesci narrating the original ad, in much the same way as you probably did the first time you watched it, commenting on Culkin’s performance and the fact that he’s aping the “Home Alone” scenes. However, that changes when Pesci braces his friends for the best part, the off-screen line read from the Wet Bandit actor saying they should go to the next house. It’s silly, but cute. And hell, it’s great seeing Pesci acting in anything nowadays.

Outside of the upcoming “The Irishman” from his friend, and directing icon, Martin Scorsese, Pesci hasn’t been in front of a camera since 2010. And even then, his last major acting gig was in “Lethal Weapon 4” in 1998. So, the actor that was incredible in classic films like “Raging Bull,” “Goodfellas,” and “Casino” is always a welcome addition to any project. If anything, this Google Home ad makes our anticipation of “The Irishman” reach feverish levels.

Hopefully, this is just the beginning of a new era of Pesci. As film fans, we’re absolutely ready to welcome the legendary actor back with arms wide open. He’s a sight for sore eyes.
