Got a Tip?

John Cusack To Produce & Star In A Rush Limbaugh Biopic

nullHere’s a movie that won’t make a cent in any international markets – John Cusack is hard at work developing a biopic of the controversial, right-wing radio host Rush Limbaugh. The project has a working title of “Rush” and is being produced by Cusack’s own production company (New Crime Productions), with Cusack also in line to star in the lead role. Because, sure, that makes sense…we can totally see the resemblance.

New Crime Productions spoke out about the biopic, which apparently also has a director attached. That would be Betty Thomas (“Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel”), and she’s presumably the natural choice given that she directed the Howard Stern biopic “Private Parts” (in which Stern played himself) back in 1997.

Limbaugh is clearly a controversial character, and most recently he sparked widespread outrage after calling student Sandra Fluke a “slut” regarding her views on insurance coverage for contraception, leading to a number of companies withdrawing ads from "The Rush Limbaugh Show." Apparently the biopic will focus on the rise and reinvention of American Talk Radio in general, as well as showingLimbaugh’s impact on it during the last three decades. We’re not sure we see the commercial appeal of the project (though it will certainly give pundits lots to talk about), and Cusack’s involvement is a bit of a puzzler too. The biopic is slated for production some time in 2013.
