Got a Tip?

Johnny Knoxville & Patton Oswalt Co-Star In Upcoming David Gordon Green Produced Comedy

As far as comedy team-ups go this is pretty inspiring, though we have to say, the pairing of Johnny Knoxville and Patton Oswalt is also kind of strange too.

But executive producer David Gordon Green — who is working on the pic along with fellow producers Marc Turtletaub, Peter Saraf and Lisa Muskat — must see the chemistry as the duo are lined up for an untitled comedy by “The Catechism Cataclysm” director Todd Rohal who also wrote the pic. The film will center on two brothers (Knoxville and Oswalt) who decide to honor their ill father by taking a troop of Scouts on a camping trip and yes, all hell will break loose. Rob Riggle, Maura Tierney and Patrice O’Neal will co-star in the film that actually starts filming this week.

We can only imagine the budget on this one will be quite low. Knoxville may be popular for getting hit in the balls in the “Jackass” films, but outside of that franchise his history on the big screen has been rough at best. And while Oswalt may be a well known comedian, he hasn’t really led a film, though he has landed some big projects of late, notably “Odd Thomas” as well as a strong supporting part in Jason Reitman‘s forthcoming “Young Adult.” He also earned considerable praise for his turn in “Big Fan.”

For Rohal, this sees the director moving quickly on the buzz surrounding ‘Cataclysm,’ which Green also produced, and will be released later this year by IFC Midnight. [Deadline]
