Got a Tip?

Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s ‘hitRECord’ Is Launching A TV Variety Show

nullIs there anything Joseph Gordon-Levitt can’t do? Or, possibly more accurately, is there anything that any right-minded person wouldn’t want to see Joseph Gordon-Levitt do? He’s the anti-Anne Hathaway in the respect that everybody loves him whether they have good reason or not, and the man now looks set to add another string to his bow.

The former “3rd Rock from the Sun” actor is heading back to the small screen to host a variety show based on his collaborative hitReCord site. Going by the name “HitRECord on TV!,” the series will be the pivot of Participant Media’s newly announced cable network and will feature contributions including films, live performances and animation from online community members. JGL will select said segments, piece them together and then present them on-air.

Frankly, it sounds amazing, and it’s more than enough to get us interested in this new cable network. Let’s hope Levitt will perform too, and maybe do some of the excellent singing and dancing we saw from him at this year’s Oscars. As well as this variety show, Participant Media also announced plans for an original period series about William Shakespeare from writer Craig Pearce (“The Great Gatsby,” “Moulin Rouge”). Sounds good, but not quite as good as a JGL variety show, because there’s possible nothing that sounds better than that. [EW]
