‘Jules’ Trailer: Ben Kingsley’s Life Is Upended By A UFO & An Extra-Terrestrial

Ron Howard’s 1985 classic “Cocoon” was “E.T.” for an older generation in many ways. And every generation needs an update on a tried and true classic, right? Well, that could be the new film “Jules” about a UFO and extra-terrestrial that disrupts the lives of the elderly.

When an elderly man in a small town receives an unexpected visitor, his life and the lives of two women in his community are upended completely in this delightful comedic drama, “Jules,” directed by Marc Turtletaub (producer “Little Miss Sunshine,” “The Farewell”; director “Puzzle”). The film won the Audience Award at the 2023 Sonoma International Film Festival earlier this year, and it stars Ben Kingsley (“Gandhi,” “Schindler’s List”), Harriet Sansom Harris (“Licorice Pizza,” Marvel’s “Werewolf by Night”),  Zoe Winters (“Succession”), Jade Quon (“Transformers: The Last Knight”) and Jane Curtin (“3rd Rock From The Sun,” “Saturday Night Live”).

Here’s the official synopsis:

Jules follows Milton (Kingsley), who lives a quiet life of routine in a small western Pennsylvania town, but finds his day upended when a UFO and its extra-terrestrial passenger crash land in his backyard. Before long, Milton develops a close relationship with the extra-terrestrial he calls “Jules.” Things become complicated when two neighbors (Harris and Curtin) discover Jules, and the government quickly closes in. What follows is a funny, wildly inventive ride as the three neighbors find meaning and connection later in life – thanks to this unlikely stranger.

Written by Gavin Steckler (“Review”), the film is produced by Debbie Liebling, p.g.a., Andy Daly, Michael B. Clark, p.g.a., Alex Turtletaub, p.g.a, and Marc Turletaub p.g.a.

Bleeker Street will release “Jules” in theaters nationwide on August 11, 2023. Watch the new trailer below.
