'Daliland' Trailer: Ben Kingsley & Ezra Miller Star In Mary Harron's Biopic About The Legendary Artist On June 9

Mary Harron has tackled all sorts of difficult subjects over her nearly thirty-year career. Audiences may know her best for her 2000 adaptation of Brad Easton Ellis‘ “American Psycho” with Christian Bale. But don’t sleep on “The Notorious Betty Page” or 2018’s “Charlie Says,” about the Manson Family cult.

But in her latest film, Harron tacks into a slightly different direction for her biopic, “Daliland.” There are no violent fantasies, pin-up girls, or psychological coercion here. Instead, Harron’s new film examines Surrealist legend Salvador Dalí in his later years as the eccentric artist preps a show in NYC while balancing a shaky marriage with his wife, Gala.

Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Mary Harron, DALÍLAND stars Ben Kingsley as the titular Salvador Dalí, one of the most world-renowned artists of the 20th century and focuses on the later years of the strange and fascinating marriage between Dalí and his wife, Gala, as their seemingly unshakable bond begins to stress and fracture. Set in New York and Spain in 1974, the film is told through the eyes of James, a young assistant keen to make his name in the art world, who helps the eccentric and mercurial Dalí prepare for a big gallery show.

Kingsley portrays Dali in Harron’s film, while Ezra Miller plays a younger version of the artist in flashbacks. “Daliland” also stars Christopher BrineyBarbara SukowaAndreja PejicRupert GravesAlexander BeyerSuki Waterhouse, and Mark McKenna.
