‘Kang Dynasty’ Writer Teases How The New Generation Of Avengers Will Be “Thrown Into The Fire”

After “Avengers: Endgame,” there were quite a few fans wondering how Marvel Studios could ever top that film. The fourth film in the ‘Avengers’ franchise finished off the epic Infinity Saga and features dozens of heroes fighting onscreen at the same time. The film enjoyed record-breaking success, and it’s largely viewed as one of the best superhero films of all time. Yet, in a couple of years, Marvel is releasing the first of two new ‘Avengers’ films, titled ‘The Kang Dynasty.’ And according to the writer of the film, ‘Kang Dynasty’ is going to really be focused on the new generation of heroes.

Speaking to SFX Magazine, writer Jeff Loveness talked about the forthcoming ‘Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.” As the title suggests, the film is set to showcase the villain known as Kang the Conquerer, who has appeared already in “Loki” and will next be seen in “Ant-Man and Wasp: Quantumania.” But really, for fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, ‘Kang Dynasty’ is going to show the new generation of Avengers, who have largely been introduced over the past two years, teaming up for the first time in an attempt to stop this mad man.

“Kang is a top-tier, A-list Avengers villain,” Loveness said. “What do you do when you feel you’re not enough against that? How do you step up to face the challenge of this generation, who is Thanos on an exponential level? He’s almost this infinite Thanos. I think we’re setting things up for a pretty dynamic story.”

He continued, “As I’m building to ‘Avengers’ I want it to feel like a generational struggle. Phase 4 felt like the birth of new characters. You’re giving everyone a little bit of a breath, you’re broadening out the universe, you have fun Disney Plus shows that are elevating characters. And now I think it’s time to put the pedal to the gas again, and really take all these new characters that we like and throw them into the fire.”

As mentioned, Phase 4 of the MCU has seen introductions of characters such as Shang-Chi, She-Hulk, Ms. Marvel, Hawkeye/Kate Bishop, Moon Knight, and many, many more. ‘Kang Dynasty’ will serve as the first time many of these characters will get to interact with each other. Because of that, there will be a newness to the next ‘Avengers’ film that will hopefully set it apart from the previous films.

Of course, this all leads to “Avengers: Secret Wars,” which really does have the chance to become an even bigger affair than ‘Endgame,’ with multiple universes colliding to save the day. But that’s getting ahead of ourselves. Let’s see what ‘Kang Dynasty’ has in store first.
