Karen O Calls 'Wild Things' Songs "Sweet, Innocent" Sing Alongs For Childen

Ok, there’s not much to it, but in an interview with Nylon, Karen O of the Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs, has revealed more than she ever has about what to expect from her songs written for Spike Jonze’s “Where The Wild Things Are” film. Sure, we all expected them to be child-like, but this is basically the first time she’s really described the songs.

“We wrote music that would be easy for kids to sing along with. The songs have that innocence and spirit with poppy hooks here and there. Simple, emotional, sweet stuff.”

The “we” thing is interesting. Does she mean, she and Carter Burwell, who are both credited with writing the film’s score, or does she possibly mean members of the Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs and or Deerhunter’s Bradford Cox, all of whom helped her out in some capacity (whether that’s “songwriting” or not is presently unknown). That’s unclear. Surely details will come out closer to the film’s release on October 16.
