Recently, it was announced that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson had secured a role in his second DC superhero film, voicing Superman’s dog, Krypto, in the upcoming animated feature “DC League of Super-Pets.” Well, now it appears Johnson isn’t the only big name lending a voice to the superhero film.

According to Warner Bros., The Rock is going to be joined by voice actors such as Kevin Hart, Kate McKinnon, Vanessa Bayer, Diego Luna, Natasha Lyonne, John Krasinski, and Keanu Reeves. Outside of Johnson’s role as Krypto and Hart’s role as Ace (Batman’s dog sidekick in the comic books), the rest of the cast doesn’t have specific roles attached to the announcement. But that doesn’t mean there’s a lack of super pets from the DC comics universe that they can play.
Who can possibly forget characters such as Streaky the Supercat, Beppo the Super-Monkey, and Comet the Super-Horse? Perhaps there will also be an appearance by Bat-Cow (yes, Bat-Cow is a real animal from the DC Universe)? Honestly, given the way the Snyderverse played out and the rather scattershot quality of the DCEU live-action films, why not do an unabashedly silly, fun film like “DC League of Super-Pets?” And with a cast like this, it has to be a lot of fun, right?
And for those keeping track, this is the fifth film (if my math is correct) to feature Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart. They are definitely turning into the go-to duo for comedy films that have a bit of action, as the juxtaposition of sizes is obviously good enough for an immediate laugh. We’ll just have to wait and see how they do together when they both ditch their physical forms and lend their voices to super dogs.
“DC League of Super-Pets” is expected to arrive on May 20, 2022.
