It’s been seven long years since the semi-trainwreck that was “Dreamcatcher,” but Lawrence Kasdan is returning behind the camera for a drama that should be in his more familiar and successful “The Big Chill”/”Grand Canyon” wheelhouse.
Production Weekly has tweeted that Kevin Kline, Diane Keaton and Richard Jenkins have joined “Darling Companion.” Update: Variety says “Mad Men” star Elisabeth Moss has also joined the cast. Written by Lawrence and Meg Kasdan, the film will follow “a couple in their golden years reunites with their children for their daughter’s wedding, and chaos ensues when the husband loses the family dog and everyone must search for it.” Can’t say the premise has us thrilled, but hopefully it will be a bit richer than the logline suggests.
All the talent involved have worked with Kasdan before. Keaton appeared in “The Accidental Tourist,” Jenkins had one of his first roles in “Silverado,” while Kline has appeared in five of Kasdan’s films including “Silverado,” “French Kiss,” “I Love You To Death,” “The Big Chill” and “Grand Canyon.”
Production is set to begin in Utah on September 27th.
