We’re surprised it took this long but, the first feature film tackling the recent financial crisis is in the works and it has attracted some solid talent.
Kevin Spacey and Zachary Quinto are set to star in “Margin Call.” The film will mark the directorial debut of writer J.C. Chandor and “tracks eight people at a prominent investment bank in a tumultuous 24-hour period during the early stages of the financial crisis. The characters struggle to position themselves ahead of the coming storm.” So, its like a “Magnolia” of the banking world?
We’re curious about this but these sort of “ripped-from-the-headlines” Hollywood stories are usually stuffed with self-importance and given that by the time this hits theaters the event will be at least a year and a half or two years behind us, we wonder if the movie will actually have anything of value to say? Guess we’ll have to wait and see. The film will go in front of cameras this summer in Manhattan.
