‘Kinds Of Kindness’ Trailer: Emma Stone, Jesse Plemons & More Star In Yorgos Lanthimos’ Triptych Fable

It kinda goes without saying that “Kinds of Kindness” is a unique film. All you need to know is that Yorgos Lanthimos directed it to realize this isn’t your typical comedy. And yet, even still, the film is unique even for the acclaimed filmmaker.

As seen in the trailer for the film, “Kinds of Kindness” isn’t just one movie, it’s a triptych where the actors play different roles in different stories within the film. So, you’re not just getting Emma Stone in one role, you see her in three different roles, alongside the all-star cast that Lanthimos has been able to pull together.

The cast includes Emma Stone, Jesse Plemons, Willem Dafoe, Margaret Qualley, Hong Chau, Joe Alwyn, Mamoudou Athie, and Hunter Schafer. “Kinds of Kindness” is directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, who co-wrote the script alongside Efthimis Filippou

We caught the film as part of the recent Cannes Film Festival, and in our review, we said, “A deceptively dense piece of work filled with moments that articulate the complexity of the human condition. You may laugh here or there, but you’ll be thinking more about the choices these characters take and the inherent pain they endure much longer than Stone’s celebratory dancing in a parking lot.”

“Kinds of Kindness” arrives in theaters on June 21. You can watch the trailer below.

Here’s the synopsis:

KINDS OF KINDNESS is a triptych fable, following a man without choice who tries to take control of his own life; a policeman who is alarmed that his wife who was missing-at-sea has returned and seems a different person; and a woman determined to find a specific someone with a special ability, who is destined to become a prodigious spiritual leader.
