Got a Tip?

‘King Spawn’: Blumhouse Confirms ‘Spawn’ Reboot Script Has Been Written

It’s been nearly two years since we had our update about Todd McFarlane’sSpawn” reboot film. At the time, it was announced that some new writers were being brought in to help with the script. Well, guess what? Miracles do happen because now, Jason Blum (the Blumhouse boss) has confirmed that a script has been turned in. Does that mean “Spawn” is actually happening?

According to a post on social media, Jason Blum has shared the cover page to what looks like a real script for the upcoming “Spawn” reboot film. In addition, it appears the actual title for the film is “King Spawn,” which definitely adds a bit of intrigue to the proceedings. As seen on the cover page, the new script is written by Matt Mixon, Malcolm Spellman, and Scott Silver.

Interestingly, Todd McFarlane’s name isn’t listed as one of the writers. For years, it appeared as if McFarlane would not only direct the film, but he would also write the script. However, we have seen the script for “King Spawn” and McFarlane isn’t listed as a writer. It’ll be interesting to see if he is also giving up the directorial reins as well. Could we see someone else step in to take on the role behind the camera?

The script doesn’t answer all of our questions, however. In fact, on social media, McFarlane also shared the image of the script. But do you know who didn’t share an image? Jamie Foxx. So, it’s still unclear if the actor is actually still involved in the film as the title character or not. He’s stuck around for years as this film project toiled in development. It would be odd for him to bail on it right now. But who knows?

Obviously, it’s still too early to know if the film has been given the greenlight. However, with Blumhouse sharing this script image, you have to assume it’s something the studio really wants to get going soon.
