‘The King’s Man’ Trailer: Matthew Vaughn’s Prequel Takes the Spy Agency Back To The Early 1900s

One of the most popular spy series of recent times “Kingsman” is set to return to the big screen, however, it won’t feature fan favorite characters Eggsy (Taron Egerton) and Harry Hart (Colin Firth).

Director Matthew Vaughn has instead opted for the similarily named, “The King’s Man” and will take the series back in time to the 1900s, to the formation of the agency. Which means there will be fewer gadgets and pocket-sized weapons that we are used to with “Kingsman” films, and more to the point of seeing how the “Kingsman” came to be.

One of the mainstays of Vaughn’s spy film series will be the iconic fight scenes we have become accustomed to, with Eggsy and Harry fighting their way through multiple bad guys and taking them out in different ways. The possibility of those well-choreographed fight scenes being in the prequel should be expected, how else did we get to the point of Harry and Eggsy learning to fight as they did? It had to of been passed down generation after generation.

“The King’s Man” is set to follow one man, who intends on stopping history’s worst criminals who gather to wipe out millions of people (sounds familiar to the previous two films). But sure enough, Vaughn has thought of a different way of dealing with a similar storyline to what he has done, why try and fix something that isn’t broken.

The King’s Man” is set to feature the likes of Ralph Fiennes, who has played a part in another iconic spy series, where he played Gareth Mallory (or better known as M) in James Bond’s “Skyfall.” There are also roles for Harris Dickinson (“Silent Witness”), Daniel Brühl (“Rush”), Charles Dance (“Game of Thrones”), Rhys Ifans (“The Boat That Rocked”), Matthew Goode (“The Imitation Game”) and Gemma Arterton, who is another who has been in a James Bond film, this time “Quantum of Solace.” The rest of the ensemble cast includes Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Charles Dance, Tom Hollander, Djimon Hounsou, and Stanley Tucci.
