'Kingsman' Production Company Teases 7 More Films In The Franchise

With two fairly successful films under his belt in the “Kingsman” franchise, filmmaker Matthew Vaughn is still prepping his prequel film, “The King’s Man” for release sometime…in the future? Honestly, with how movie theaters are doing right now, we have no idea where/when we’ll see “The King’s Man.” That said, it appears that Vaughn’s production company, MARV, is far, far, FAR from done with the franchise and has several new sequels and spinoffs in the works.

Speaking at the Winston Baker UK Finance Summit (via Deadline), Marv Group CEO Zygi Kamasa said that the production company doesn’t have one or two or even three projects in the “Kingsman” universe on tap. Kamas said there are “something like seven more ‘Kingsman’ films” in the works as we speak.

Yes, you read that right. SEVEN films. Depending on your reaction to the first two films, which were box office successes and fan-favorites but polarizing amongst critics, the expansion of the superspy action franchise to seven more films could be great news…or a hostile threat.

“We want to grow the business and the output,” Kamasa added. “We have a ‘Kingsman’ TV series in the works and there are two-three other franchises that are being developed alongside the ‘Kingsman’ world.”

We’ve heard that there are plans for the “Kingsman” TV series. That isn’t news. There are also plans to finish out the modern storyline with a third “Kingsman” film in the main series. Add to that the forthcoming prequel, which is likely setting up for another franchise, and there is still at least one more “franchise” in the universe that is being worked on right now. That’s a lot of uber-violent espionage action, huh?

Obviously, we have to assume Vaughn won’t be aboard to direct each and every one of these films and series. So, it’ll be interesting to see who he picks to take on some of the projects. Director Jon S. Baird was reportedly in talks to maybe join for a new “Kingsman” film, but we have yet to hear confirmation. For now, we are all waiting to see “The King’s Man,” which is (currently) scheduled for February 12, 2021.
