'Kodachrome' Trailer: Jason Sudeikis & Elizabeth Olsen Hit The Road

Kodak’s Kodachrome color film was around for a long time. In fact, it even inspired a Paul Simon song in 1973. It’s no surprise manufacturing was discontinued in 2010, given all the technological advancements that occurred in the early 21st century. That, however, the analog/digital schism of old and new, doesn’t seem to be stopping the characters of the upcoming film “Kodachrome.”

Kodachrome premiered at 2017’s Toronto Film Festival to mostly tepid reviews. The Playlist praised veteran actor Ed Harris’ performance calling it a “showy, scenery chewing role and does earn some well-deserved laughs.”

The official synopsis can be read below:

Struggling A&R executive Matt (Jason Sudeikis) finds his world turned upside down when his estranged father’s nurse (Elizabeth Olsen) shows up unexpectedly in his office. Matt’s father, a famed bad-boy photojournalist (Ed Harris), is facing terminal cancer and his dying wish is for Matt to join him on a road trip from New York to Kansas to process his last rolls of Kodachrome film before the sole remaining lab closes and those captured moments are gone forever. Kodachrome tells the story of three damaged people coming to terms with themselves, each other, and a world swiftly changing from analog to digital.

Indie favorites Jason Sudeikis, Elizabeth Olsen, and Ed Harris star while “Copenhagen” director Mark Raso sits in the director’s chair. Raso first turned heads after writing, editing, producing, and directing his previous film “Copenhagen” in 2014. The film won the Audience Award at the Slamdance Film Festival where Raso was named “a talent to watch.” Writing the script is novelist and screenwriter, Jonathan Tropper. For his debut screenplay, he adapted his own New York Times bestselling novel “This Is Where I Leave You” for the 2014 film of the same name. Most recently, his Bruce Lee inspired “Warrior” series was greenlit at Cinemax. Tropper will write and produce while “Fast and Furious” favorite Justin Lin and Shannon Lee will also executive produce.

“Kodachrome” will have a limited theatrical release in addition to premiering on Netflix on April 20.
