Just when you didn’t think things could get worse of actor Armie Hammer, after alleged texts surfaced where he claimed to be a cannibal, things have in fact gotten worse. Way worse. Now, the actor is being formally investigated by the LAPD after a woman comes forward with allegations of rape and abuse.
According to Variety, the LAPD is investigating the claims made by a woman, who goes by the name Effie, who held a press conference to lay out all her allegations against Hammer. The abuse includes physical abuse and sexual assault, all taking place during their on-and-off four-year relationship from 2016 to 2020.
“I thought that he was going to kill me,” said the accuser. “On April 24, 2017, Armie Hammer violently raped me for over four hours in Los Angeles, during which he repeatedly slapped my head against a wall, bruising my face. He also committed other acts of violence against me to which I did not consent.”

During the press conference, she spoke of the rape and said that he beat her feet “so they would hurt” with every step. And when she tried to leave, he wouldn’t let her go.
As mentioned, these allegations come shortly after controversy that came up where alleged texts surfaced that were horribly explicit and alluded to Hammer wanting to literally eat a woman. The actor thoroughly denied the validity of the texts but did admit to having various extramarital affairs. (He’s now in the process of a divorce with his estranged wife.)
And as you might expect, Hammer has publicly denied the rape accusation through a statement released by his legal team.
“Effie’s own correspondence with Mr. Hammer undermines and refutes her outrageous allegations. As recently as July 18, 2020, [she] sent graphic texts to Mr. Hammer telling him what she wanted him to do to her. Mr. Hammer responded making it clear that he did not want to maintain that type of relationship with her,” said the statement, which included alleged screenshots of text exchanges between Effie and Hammer.
Of course, now that the LAPD is involved, it has turned into a criminal matter that could end with Hammer facing serious consequences for his alleged abuse. You can read more details about the abuse at Variety.
