'L'Empire': Bruno Dumont's New Sci-Fi Film Will Star Lily-Rose Depp, Adele Haenel & Virginie Efira

Bruno Dumont is one of the most exciting filmmakers working today. Sure, not everything he releases is perfect, but he’s a risk-taker, and his films, such as “Jeanette,” “Joan of Arc,” and “France,” all take big swings and are worth watching just to see how far he’s willing to go. So, with that in mind, we’re really excited to see what he has coming next, which is apparently a star-studded sci-fi feature.

According to the French outlet, Les Inrockuptibles, Bruno Dumont has announced the cast for his upcoming sci-fi film, “L’Empire.” The film is said to star Virginie Efira, Fabrice Luchini, Lily-Rose Depp, and Adèle Haenel and tell the story of extraterrestrial knights who land on the Opal Coast in France.

Obviously, Dumont is the type of filmmaker who always makes really unique features, so it’s not a complete shock that he would make this sort of strange sci-fi film. And he definitely loves to bring in big names, with Lea Seydoux leading the way in his most recent feature, “France.” But let’s be honest, this cast for “L’Empire” is really great.

Haenel is one of the best actresses in the world and really broke out in a big way thanks to her acclaimed performance in the feature, “Portrait of a Lady on Fire.” Efira is probably best known for her most recent role in Paul Verhoeven’s wild film, “Benedetta.” And Depp (other than being the daughter of Johnny Depp) has really started to make a name for herself in features such as “Planetarium,” “The King,” “Voyagers,” and most recently, “Wolf.”

It’s unclear when we might see “L’Empire” arrive in theaters. Obviously, when you talk about Dumont, you have to assume a film festival debut will be first. So, hopefully, we see this new one soon.
