British actress Lena Headey (“The Sarah Connor Chronicles,” “300”), who this writer has always sorta liked without really having any good reason to, is set to star in “Safe House,” a British horror/thriller in which an isolated witness protection hideaway is menaced by… something or other — which sounds pretty close to producer Steve Iles’ description of it as “‘Assault on Precinct 13’ meets ‘The Thing’.”
Written by Andy Briggs (“Ghost Town,” the forthcoming “Jericho”) with monster work being provided by “District 9” veterans Image Engine, the film will also star Michael Ironside (every movie ever made) with Kate Mara (“Iron Man 2”) and Michael Trucco (“Battlestar Galactica”) also reportedly being sought. So far it sounds like a geeky good time, and if it comes off well, we’ll think about forgiving director Simon Hunter for “The Mutant Chronicles.” — Jessica Kiang
