'Limetown' Trailer: Jessica Biel's New Facebook Watch Series Puts A Deadly Spin On Podcasting

Have you ever listened to the popular NPR podcast “Serial” and wondered about what might happen if the host of that show was pulled into some sort of vast conspiracy that not only endangered her life, but also the lives of her family and friends? Well, if not, then you probably should because the new series “Limetown” provides a grim look at what might happen if a simple investigative podcast turns deadly.

“Limetown” tells the story of a podcast host, Lia Haddock, who is popular for her “Serial”-esque show on American Public Radio. And her latest project focuses on the mysterious disappearance of over 300 people in Limetown. As Lia investigates the disappearance, she begins getting threats and realizes that she’s now intertwined with a story that is much bigger than she bargained for.

The series is set to have its debut at this year’s TIFF. “Limetown” stars Jessica Biel alongside Stanley Tucci, Marlee Matlin, Kelly Jenrette, John Beasley, Sherri Saum, Omar Elba, Louis Ferriera, and Janet Kidder. The thriller series is based on the podcast of the same name from Zack Akers and Skip Bronkie, who also serve as co-writers and producers on the adaptation. “Limetown” is directed by Rebecca Thomas.

“Limetown” will debut on October 16 on Facebook Watch.

Here’s the synopsis:

In 2004, a distress call to police was made from a research facility in Limetown, Tennessee. When the first responders arrived at the facility, a private security force denied them entry. After a long standoff, security stepped down, letting law enforcement in to investigate. When they finally entered, they realized that they were in a “graveyard without bodies.” The residents, consisting of over 300 neuroscientists and their families, were nowhere to be found. This is the mysterious case that Lia Haddock (Jessica Biel), investigative reporter, journalist, and American Public Radio host, is unpacking through her latest podcast. Her commitment to solving the mystery is more than a job: her uncle, Emile Haddock (Stanley Tucci), was one of the scientists who vanished.
