Exploring The Little-Seen, Underrated Films of 2017 [Podcast]

Welcome to another edition of Over/Under Movies, the podcast in which we choose one overrated film and one underrated film — similar in tone, genre, style, or however we may see fit — and we discuss them.

On our second part of our year-end wrap-up, we dive into the films that we believe were under-seen, under-appreciated, or were just plain slept on or dismissed by critics and audiences. I’m joined by Oktay Ege Kozak and Erik McClanahan, and just like the “Overrated” episode, each of us have picked five films (with zero overlap, surprisingly) that we think are worth seeking out. And fortunately, half of the titles mentioned on this episode are readily available on streaming services [See below].

Of course, The Playlist itself has run their own “The Most Underrated & Overrated Films Of 2017” feature with individual, highly subjective takes, but this is where we drill down a little further.

Amazon Video: “It Comes At Night,” “The Wall,” “The Lovers,” and (coming soon) “A Ghost Story.”
Netflix: “Nocturama” and “The Bad Batch.”
Shudder: “Prevenge.”

All shows and episodes are part of The Playlist Podcast Network, and can be found on iTunes, Soundcloud, or Stitcher. To listen on this page, you can stream the podcast via the SoundCloud embed below or up top. Subscribe to us on iTunes, and you’ll get this podcast as well as our other shows regularly. Feel free to leave us a comment or rating if you are so inclined.

As always, thanks for listening!
