We’re still mercifully months away from the loud onslaught of the summer movie season, and though we’re dreading the pounding our eardrums will endure — not to mention our eggheads — we’re still holding out hope that at least one upcoming tentpole proves to be a worthwhile experience. Personally, we hope something in the warmer months can compete with last summer’s most surprisingly enjoyable release, the timeline-looping “Edge Of Tomorrow.” We’re not the only fans either as the AV Club has linked to a fan-made infographic that promises to make sense out of the sci-fi film’s “Groundhog’s Day” timeline.
Created by George Hatzis, the infographic keeps track of the nearly thirty loops that Tom Cruise experiences in the film until he figures out a way to defeat the alien army. Even with the multiple loops, the plot of the film unfolds in a rather simple, straightforward way, and indeed, Hatzis’ chart is one of the more easily understandable charts that tend to appear online following a film that plays around with time. That sleekness of plot allows the film to luxuriate in the types of character beats that made the film a much more satisfying experience.
You can study the infographic below (or in a bigger version here), and buy or rent “Edge Of Tomorrow” on VOD or in a store near you.
