Ewan McGregor has had decent luck in TV the past decade with shows like “Fargo,” “Halton,” and Disney+‘s “Obi-Wan Kenobi.” Now Variety reports he’ll star in a new show in development at Amazon called “Lodi,” based on an Alta online article by Andrew Dubbins.

In 1977, a car salesman, Lou (McGregor), goes from ordinary small-town citizen to FBI informant infiltrating the mafia when a key member of organized crime offers to buy his Cadillac dealership. Over the next three years, Lou finds his quest for glory tested when he becomes embroiled in the inner workings of the crime family – from fronting a multimillion-dollar operation, to becoming a surrogate son– before procuring the first-ever conviction of an infamous crime boss.
McGregor will executive produce the series along with leading the show’s cast. Timothy Greenberg will serve as showrunner and also be an executive producer. Other executive producers on the series include Allie Goss, John Liebman of Brillstein Creative Partners, and Kaleb Tuttle from the same banner. Entertainment One (or eOne for short) oversee the show with Amazon Studios.
“Lodi” marks another major TV roel for McGregor, as he’s currently shooting the Showtime/Paramount+ series “A Gentleman In Moscow.” Based on Amor Towles‘ novel of the same name,
in production on the Showtime/Paramount+ series adaptation of “A Gentleman in Moscow,” based on the Amor Towles’ 2016 novel of the same name. The show follows a fictional Russian aristocrat who gets arrest by Metropol and must watch decades of history pass by as he’s stuck in a Moscow hotel attic apartment. McGregor’s still busy in the film world, too: recent film credits include “You Sing Loud, I Sing Louder,” “Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio,” and “Raymond & Ray.”
