We live in an age where big properties are announced with huge fanfare, only to go quiet for a few months before we finally start hearing details. But few projects got as much fanfare as Amazon Studios‘ “Lord of the Rings” TV show, which has gone quiet for a while as casting and plot details are kept secret. This is to say that, when star Morfydd Clark even teased at the scope of the show, it’s a cause for discussion.
Clark, who is reportedly playing a young Galadriel in the TV show, talked to NME about being locked down in New Zealand since February while working on the “Lord of the Rings” show how it will be to go back to smaller projects after the show.
“I feel like I’ve got my fix of the massive stuff by doing ‘Lord of the Rings,'” Clark said. “The amount of [people working] on this show is continually mind-blowing. One guy’s job consists just of seeing how dust reacts to footsteps and breath! That would never have even crossed my mind before. Other than something like Marvel, I don’t think things could get much bigger than this.”
Though we know little of the show’s casting, and know even less about the characters that will appear in the show, we do know that at least one actor is interested in coming back. Elijah Wood himself has said that he’d “absolutely” be interested in doing a cameo as Frodo. “If there was a world where that made sense and was organic to what they’re doing than yes. Look, any excuse to get to go to New Zealand to work on something I am absolutely there.”
Morfydd Clark, a self-proclaimed superfan of Peter Jackson‘s original trilogy, says she’d be ecstatic if Elijah Wood returns to Middle Earth. “Those films are so iconic for me. I’ve actually been suppressing what I know about the Tolkien universe since I came out here,” Clark said. “I honestly just love the idea that Elijah Wood has said that because I am such a fan. I’d love everyone to do a cameo in it. It’s so nice to hear support for the series from someone like that.”
