With the US going through plenty of its own political scandals and corruption, it’s hard to really pay much attention to the rest of the world. However, thanks to a new film from Paolo Sorrentino, titled “Loro,” we can watch the story of another egomaniac billionaire that is given the keys to a country.
As seen in the trailer for “Loro,” the film tells the story of Silvio Berlusconi, the man who became Prime Minister in the mid-2000s Italy. Judging by the trailer, the film features the excess and debauchery of Martin Scorsese’s “The Wolf of Wall Street” combined with the political intrigue and drama of “House of Cards.” But never forget, Berlusconi is very much real and this story is most definitely based on his true story.

The story of Berlusconi stars Toni Servillo, Elena Sofia Ricci, Riccardo Scamarcio, and Kasia Smutniak. The film is directed by Paolo Sorrentino, who is probably best known as the mastermind of the recent HBO hit series “The Young Pope,” as well as the Academy Award-winning film “The Great Beauty.”
“Loro” opens in select theaters on September 20 before arriving on VOD on September 27.
