'Lost Ollie' Trailer: Jonathan Groff, Mary J. Blige & More Star In Netflix's Animated Lost Toy Mini-Series

For Hyperion Pictures, one of their three most successful movies is “The Brave Little Toaster,” For Pixar,Toy Story 3” is ranked as the second most successful. While they’re both successful animated children’s movies, the most prominent similarity between the franchises is that they are both rooted in loyalty, friendship, perseverance, and courage. Now in the same vein, Netflix is releasing their own ‘brave little toaster,’ Ollie, a hand-made toy looking for his boy best friend.

Here’s the official synopsis:

Lost Ollie” is an epic adventure about a lost toy who braves the many dangers of childhood as he searches the countryside to reunite with the boy who lost him; and the story of the boy who lost more than a best friend. It’s a heartwarming tale for the child in us all, remembering those special souls that we’ve lost but who forever changed our lives. The four-part limited series was inspired by the book Ollie’s Odyssey by renowned author and illustrator William Joyce.

Shannon Tindle (“Kubo and the Two Strings,” “Coraline”) serves as creator, writer, and executive producer. The series was directed by Academy Award winner Peter Ramsey (“Spider-man: Into the Spider-verse”), who also serves as executive producer. Shawn Levy and Josh Barry executive produce for 21 Laps Entertainment along with Emily Morris as co-executive producer. 21 Laps is the production company behind PGA Award-winning global phenomenon “Stranger Things,” the Oscar-nominated film “Arrival,” Netflix hit series “Shadow and Bone,” hit movie “Free Guy,” hit Netflix movie “The Adam Project,” and the upcoming limited series “All The Light We Cannot See” an adaptation of the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Anthony Doerr. Brandon Oldenburg and Lampton Enochs also executive produce.

The limited series, four episodes long, brings forth an impressive cast for the adaption of William Joyce and Brandon Oldenburg’s book Ollie’s Odyssey. Jonathan Groff, who voiced Kristoff in Disney’s “Frozen,” will voice the brave Ollie on his adventures. Alongside Groff, you’ll find Mary J. Blige, Tim Blake Nelson, Gina Rodriguez, Jake Johnson, and Kesler Talbot

The hybrid live-action/animated is a part of Netflix’s “Family Summer.” It will run for four episodes, beginning on August 24, 2022. Watch the official trailer below.
