Got a Tip?

Louis Leterrier Lines Up Low Budget, Sci-Fi Flick

nullWith his starry, ensemble-driven magician heist flick "Now You See Me" due to release next spring, we're likely to start getting a taste of it soon. But in the meantime, director Louis Leterrier looks be eyeing what he'll get to next, and if it goes according to plan, he'll be dipping his toes in the sci-fi genre.

Variety reports that a package is being shopped around for "a low-budget, contained sci-fi pic" written by Nic Kelman and produced by Lorenzo Di Bonaventura that will be directed by Leterrier…and that's about it. No word on the plot details or anything else, but the genre is one Leterrier has been eyeing for a while. Over a year ago, the director set up "G" over at Universal, and it's one he was doing a lot of development and research work on. Details are still under wraps on that project, but he had an approach to the film that he wanted to do that was hugely ambitious and challenging…but that's all we can say about that. But clearly, sci-fi is something he's eager to get to.

Paramount has the first look on this new project, but if they pass it will be up for grabs. As for "Now You See Me," the film starring Mark Ruffalo, Jesse Eisenberg, Morgan Freeman, Isla Fisher, Melanie Laurent, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco and Common and featuring a score by the Chemical Brothers arrives on March 15, 2013.
