Got a Tip?

Mahershala Ali Reunites With Former ‘Blade’ Director Bassam Tariq For ‘Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother’

Two-time Oscar-winning actor Mahershala Ali (“Jurassic World Rebirth”) and writer/director Bassam Tariq (“Mogul Mowgli”) were originally paired up for Marvel’s “Blade” reboot back in 2021, but the latter would eventually exit over creative differences. But, that doesn’t mean Ali and Tariq left on bad terms during that MCU shake-up as Deadline reports the duo will be reuniting for “Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother” at Amazon MGM StudiosOrion Pictures.

We’re still waiting for plot/character details for the mysterious movie project, but that will likely come once more actors are assembled for the pic.

What we do know is that “Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother” will be the follow-up directorial effort from Tariq. The filmmaker made waves with his first movie, a hip-hop drama titled “Mogul Mowgli” starring and co-written by Riz Ahmed (“The Sound of Metal”) that earned awards such as Best First Feature and the FIPRESCI Prize at the Berlin International Film Festival in 2020.

Ali appeared most recently in the Netflix thriller “Leave The World Behind,
is attached to co-star with Tom Hardy in “77 Blackout,” and will be seen on the big screen again this July alongside Scarlett Johansson and Jonathan Bailey in Gareth Edwards’ “Jurassic World Rebirth.”

Meanwhile, we’re still patiently waiting for some new updates concerning the “Blade” reboot as the studio hit pause and kept tweaking the script before rushing into production. The studio first announced Ali in the Eric Brooks role back in 2019, while development on the reset of the action-horror franchise (which debuted in 1998 with Wesley Snipes starring as the titular vampire hunter) has been taking a bit longer than usual and stressing out fans concerned about the slow process.
