'Man Of Steel' Sequel On Fast Track With Zack Snyder & David Goyer Returning To Direct & Write

Man of Steel, Snyder, setHow can you tell when a studio is feeling confident? Well, with reviews for “Man Of Steel” officially landing in just a couple of hours (ours too), it looks like a follow-up is not only on deck, but coming faster than… well, you know…

Deadline reports that Warner Bros. has officially put a “Man Of Steel” sequel on the fast track, with Zack Snyder returning to direct, and David S. Goyer once again penning the script. As for Christopher Nolan? His name is still expected to be on the franchise as a producer, though his role won’t be as “full blown” this time around; and considering how much he has downplayed his involvement even on this movie, our guess is that might be more to use his name as a brand than anything else.

So what does this mean for “Justice League“? Well, it could still be a way off, though the seeds have been planted. “Do the DC characters exist in the universe I created? The answer is yes,” Snyder told Hero Complex. “In my mind, we have this fantastic character of Superman. It’s not madness that there would be others.”

“Now, that being said, does a ‘Justice League’ movie exist now? No. Whether or not I ever get to make that movie, I don’t know,” he continued, adding: “What is real is that there’s a crack — a foot — in the door. That’s promising. The door is definitely open.”

And while that door may be propped at the moment, Henry Cavill believes there needs to be a couple more movies first, before “Justice League” can happen. “I think, ultimately, a ‘Justice League’ movie could be fun, but to get to that stage, you have to do other movies in between. You can’t just suddenly have a world full of gods when one god has just arrived,” he told IGN. “So – how do you get to that stage? I think a ‘Batman/Superman’ movie would be great because it brings that world together. Whether they’re going to let that happen, I don’t know.”

Well, we do know that “Man Of Steel 2” or “Clark Kent Rises” or “Superman Part Deux” is going to happen first, and we’d guess that the universe within is going to be getting a bit bigger.
