Got a Tip?

‘Man Of Steel’ Villainess To Be Faora?

As you might recall, a couple of months ago a whole batch of names — including Alice Eve, Diane Kruger and Rosamund Pike — were tipped as candidates for a mysterious female lead role that was not Lois Lane in Zack Snyder‘s “Man Of Steel.” Well, word quickly dropped off — and while guesses ranged from Ursa to Cat Grant for the mysterious part, Team Nolan seems to have closed the lid on that early leak. Or have they?

Latino Review, who seem to have a few well placed spies around town, are reporting that Faora will be the female villainess in the film, presumably teaming up with Michael Shannon‘s General Zod in taking on Superman. According to the site, the character is described in the script as Zod’s “right hand bitch” and not only that, the film will feature appearances from Jor-El (confirming that Daniel Day-Lewis was being sought as rumored last month) as well as his wife Lara.

As you might recall, Ursa, who appeared in the Richard DonnerSuperman” movies was actually based on Faora from the comics so it’s not a stretch to suggest that in Snyder’s film they’ll be going right back to the source. As far as rumors go, this seems pretty plausible. The final tidbit is that Krypton will feature in the story — which chatter around the web suggets will be a “Batman Begins“-esque origin tale — but it won’t be crystal planet but more likely resemble the “Star Wars” world of Coruscant. Whether or not it turns out like a Lucas looking or world or not, at any rate, Snyder is likely re-imagining Krypton which again, is hardly a shocker.

We’ll wait to see how this plays out and LR suggest that another Sunday afternoon casting announcement could be forthcoming this weekend forcing us to stand by our computers. “Man Of Steel” ramps up for production later this year and will hit theaters in December 2012.
