'Mandibles' Exclusive Clip: Two Friends Are Ill-Prepared To Take Care Of A Giant Fly In Quentin Dupieux's Latest

Two simple-minded friends find a giant fly in the trunk of their car and decide to use this discovery to make a lot of money. No, this isn’t the description of a fever dream I recently had. Instead, it’s obviously a new Quentin Dupieux film, “Mandibles.”

With “Mandibles” finally hitting theaters later this week, we’re happy to give our readers an exclusive look at a clip from the film which perfectly showcases the tone and ridiculousness of Dupieux’s latest feature. As mentioned, “Mandibles” is really about two friends that find a giant fly in their trunk, and in the clip, we see that these men probably aren’t the best suited to care for the overgrown insect, as they are more concerned with stealing dog toys.

Dupieux is a filmmaker that loves taking outlandish concepts and adding his own brand of humor. He’s done this over the course of his filmmaking career in features such as “Rubber,” “Deerskin,” and “Keep an Eye Out.”

There’s no denying the signature absurdity is present in Dupieux’s latest, but in our review from “Mandibles,” we point out how the filmmaker has gone for something a bit “sunnier” with his latest, “The really new news of ‘Mandibles’ however, is, where in the past Dupieux’s surrealism always had a cynical, sinister, even murderous undercurrent, here, he lets himself be cheerful, as though infected by the sweet-natured bromance between his appealing, appalling idiot leads.”

“Mandibles” arrives in theaters on July 23. You can watch the exclusive clip below.

Here’s the synopsis:

When simple-minded friends Jean-Gab and Manu find a giant fly trapped in the boot of a car, they decide to train it in the hope of making a ton of cash.
