It’s ‘Star Wars’ Versus ‘Star Trek’ As Mark Hamill Duels Patrick Stewart In New Uber Eats Ad

If you talk to your Grandma or someone who doesn’t know a Jedi from a Klingon, the idea that there is a deep-rooted feud between fandoms of “Star Wars” and “Star Trek” is obviously silly. They are completely different franchises with different themes, different stories, and very different goals. But because they both have ‘Star’ in the title, there’s this perceived battle between them, a la the good ol’ Marvel versus DC debate. Well, the Battle of the ‘Star’ Franchises comes to a head in the new Uber Eats ad, as Mark Hamill and Patrick Stewart aim to end it once and for all.

And it’s all because of the word “tomato.”

You see, the age-old debate over whether or not you call the food item a “toe-may-toe” or “toe-mah-toe” invades the worlds of “Star Wars” and “Star Trek” as the actors behind Luke Skywalker and Jean-Luc Picard grab weapons and seemingly threaten to beat each other with them over the correct pronunciation of tomato. It’s pretty silly, but both Hamill and Stewart really do play up the grandeur of the duel, so it kind of works.

Just like any good “Star Wars” or “Star Trek” discussion, we aren’t going to spoil the ending, but let’s just say fans will be left with the same feeling they probably felt walking out of ‘Rise of the Skywalker’— “That sure was disappointing.”
