Martin Scorsese is no stranger to showing up in an ad for something. He may be one of the most iconic filmmakers ever, but he’ll shill for Coca-Cola or AMEX when called upon. Well, for this year’s Super Bowl, it appears Martin isn’t the only Scorsese involved, as Squarespace has secured the filmmaker and his daughter, Francesca.

As seen in the ad before the ad (apparently, this 4-minute short is just the precursor to the full ad), Martin Scorsese and his daughter are sitting down to create a website using Squarespace. If that sounds boring, well it’s only moderately slow, as you do enjoy watching the very real relationship between the two unfold. It’s clear there’s immense love and affection between them, which is really sweet to watch. But yeah, they’re still just making a website.
The saving grace of the entire short is the line towards the end when the website is finished, and Martin Scorsese leaves his daughter. He says something so silly and cringe, that it is bound to draw a chuckle.
However, much like the Super Bowl ads featuring other A-listers, there’s something icky about all of this, right? Something really odd about Martin Scorsese talking about how Marvel films are destroying cinema, but he’s willing to collect a check to promote whatever corporation wants him for their Super Bowl ads, right? Well, that’s a debate possibly for another time. For now, you can enjoy the adorable banter between one of the best filmmakers to ever live and his daughter.
