‘Materialists’ Trailer: Dakota Johnson, Chris Evans & Pedro Pascal Star In Celine Song’s New Romantic Drama

Is love a predictable formula or something far more bewildering? Materialists” marks Celine Song’s first film since the critically acclaimed “Past Lives.” Song does double duty once again, writing as well as directing the upcoming project. She also recruits many of her previous ‘Lives’ collaborators — cinematographer Shabier Kirchner, editor Keith Fraase, and costume designer Katina Danabassis.

Another appealing aspect of “Materialists” is its impressive cast. Dakota Johnson, Chris Evans, and Pedro Pascal star as the complex love triangle. Johnson finds her career balanced between blockbusters like the “Fifty Shades of Grey” film series and well-received indie projects. 2023’s “Daddio” saw her star alongside Sean Pean in the Christy Hall project. Just a year earlier, the actress appeared in Sundance favorite “Cha Cha Real Smooth.” Her co-stars are navigating their own blockbuster paths. Evans appeared in “Deadpool & Wolverine,” reprising his role of Johnny Storm. Rumors are also swirling that he could return to the MCU as it prepares two new Avengers films. Pascal can be seen in another MCU title, “The Fantastic Four: First Steps,” and ‘The Star Wars franchise film “The Mandalorian and Grogu.”

The film’s official synopsis:

A young, ambitious New York City matchmaker finds herself torn between the perfect match and her imperfect ex.
