Conclave” director Edward Berger has a new high-profile feature in the works and will have Oscar-winner Brad Pitt (“Once Upon A Time In Hollywood”) attached to star, as the two are teaming up for an adaptation of the Tim Winton novel “The Riders.”

Deadline has revealed the hot-as-a-pistol packaged deal has landed at A24 with screenwriter David Kajganich tackling the script. Kajagnich previously worked on the series “The Terror” along with Luca Guadagnino‘s films “Bones & All” and his remake of the Dario Argento horror flick “Suspiria.”

Here is the official logline for “The Riders” courtesy of Amazon:

After traveling through Europe for two years, Scully and his wife Jennifer wind up in Ireland, and on a mystical whim of Jennifer’s, buy an old farmhouse which stands in the shadow of a castle. While Scully spends weeks alone renovating the old house, Jennifer returns to Australia to liquidate their assets. When Scully arrives at Shannon Airport to pick up Jennifer and their seven-year-old daughter, Billie, it is Billie who emerges—alone. There is no note, no explanation, not so much as a word from Jennifer, and the shock has left Billie speechless. In that instant, Scully’s life falls to pieces.

Pitt is coming off pics like Jon Watts‘ “Wolfs” co-starring George Clooney and will be leading the Joseph Kosinski racing drama “F1” when the movie hits screens on June 27. He’s also attached to reprise his “Once Upon A Time In Hollywood” role of Cliff Booth in a follow-up film at Netflix, penned by Quentin Tarantino, but is going to be directed by David Fincher (“The Killer”).
