One of the funniest bits in the hilarious “Thor: Ragnarok” is the part where Asgardian actors act out the series of events that happened in the previous film. Not only is it funny because that idea is actually funny but also because it gave us the first appearance of Matt Damon in the MCU. Well, we already know that Damon is coming back for “Thor: Love & Thunder” and it appears his Asgardian acting troupe is growing its ranks with Melissa McCarthy and her husband Ben Falcone.

According to set pictures posted by the Daily Mail, it’s clear that Melissa McCarthy and Ben Falcone have made the trip to Australia to shoot scenes for “Thor: Love & Thunder.” And as the pictures confirm, it seems as if McCarthy has been cast as an actor that will replay the events of “Thor: Ragnarok,” where she will taking the role of Fake Hela in the retelling. As you probably remember, in actual ‘Ragnarok,’ the role of Hela was played brilliantly by Cate Blanchett.
Of course, if you’re a fan of McCarthy and follow her Instagram, it shouldn’t be too much of a surprise that she’s showing up in the new ‘Thor’ film. On Christmas Day, the actress and her husband posted a video where they publicly auditioned with monologues for whatever role they could find in ‘Love & Thunder.’ Whether that was sincere or just part of a gag to help tease her involvement, it’s still pretty funny.

The set pictures also confirm the return of Matt Damon as Fake Loki, Luke Hemsworth as Fake Thor, and Sam Neill as Fake Odin. While we don’t know much else about “Thor: Love & Thunder,” at least we can prepare ourselves for the fact that the re-enactment in the film will probably be hilarious.
“Thor: Love & Thunder” will arrive in theaters on May 6, 2022.
