Got a Tip?

Michael K. Williams Gets ‘Captive’; Also Has A Role In Paul Thomas Anderson’s ‘Inherent Vice’

Boardwalk Empire, Season 4, Ep North Star

While actor Michael K. Williams takes some time off from portraying old timey gangster Chalky White on “Boardwalk Empire,” he’s decided to change up his loyalties by playing a lead detective in a new crime thriller based on a true story. Directed by Jerry Jameson, “Captive” sees Williams joining a cast that already includes David Oyelowo, Kate Mara, Leonor Varela and Mimi Rogers

The movie follows a single mom who’s taken hostage by a murderer after struggling to gain custody of her daughter and battle her drug addiction. Good lord! The drama, written by Brian Bird and Reinhard Denke, starts shooting in North Carolina this weekend, and while we’ll watch Williams in just about anything, at least here he’s backed by a considerable cast as well.

Interestingly enough, buried at the bottom of the article is confirmation of a rumor that’s been floating around for a few months: Williams also has a role in the Paul Thomas Anderson-directed “Inherent Vice,” but it doesn’t say what character. You’ll be seeing him next in the rebooted “RoboCop” and he’s also in Jeremy Renner‘s starring vehicle “Kill the Messenger.” [Deadline]
