Got a Tip?

Michael Keaton Says He’s Currently Shooting More Marvel Stuff But Won’t Give Details

In 1989, when Michael Keaton debuted as Batman in Tim Burton’s film, no one had any idea that his legacy as a preeminent comic book film actor would last for decades. But here we are, in 2021, with Keaton talking about not one, not two, but multiple superhero franchises that he’s scheduled to appear in over the next year or so. And on Jimmy Kimmel Live, he explained that he’s going back to work for Marvel sooner than fans are likely expecting.

So, we know that Michael Keaton is set to return as Batman in the upcoming “Flash” film next year. That much is known. We also know that Keaton has already shown up as Vulture in “Spider-Man: Homecoming” and could possibly return (because, at this point, why not?) in ‘No Way Home’ next month. And we have already seen him show up in a clip from the upcoming “Morbius” film, where he’s presumably playing Vulture in the Sony Spider-verse. But what is he teasing on Jimmy Kimmel Live?

“I’m shooting tomorrow…yeah, man,” teased Keaton. “Some Vulture stuff.”

Presumably, it’s a bit too late for him to film something significant for “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” unless it’s just a cameo or a post-credits sort of thing. So, it’s more likely that Keaton is suiting up as Vulture for the upcoming “Morbius” film, which is still a few months away. Or less likely, it’s something that has yet to be announced. All we know for certain is Keaton’s time in the world of Marvel isn’t done yet.

It’s also funny to see Keaton try to dance his way around revealing spoilers or plot specifics for his comic book movies. Obviously, the actor isn’t as well-versed in the superhero lore as some of his co-stars, but it’s entertaining to watch him try to speak with a bit of authority when talking about these projects. All that to say, more Keaton in the Marvel universe (Sony or otherwise) is never a bad thing.
