Michael Caine Has A Small Role In Christopher Nolan's 'Dunkirk'

Across six films — “Batman Begins,” “The Dark Knight,” “The Dark Knight Rises,” “The Prestige,” “Inception” and “Interstellar” — Michael Caine has been a mainstay and some would say lucky charm for Christopher Nolan. Indeed, the director didn’t miss a chance to give his friend and regular collaborator a role in his seventh film “Dunkirk,” though you’ve might’ve missed it.

Speaking with NJ, Nolan confirmed that Caine has small voice cameo in the WWII movie, giving orders to the RAF pilots played by Tom Hardy and Jack Lowden.

“…. good for you for spotting him. It’s shocking to me that a lot of people haven’t, when he has really one of the most distinctive voices in cinema. I wanted very much to squeeze him in here. It’s a bit of a nod to his character in ‘Battle of Britain.’ And also, it’s Michael. He has to be in all my films, after all,” Nolan said.

In fairness to audiences everywhere, the sound mix probably didn’t make it very easy to pick out Caine’s voice, but it’s pretty sweet that Nolan recruited the actor for the film, even if for something small.

“Dunkirk” is now playing everywhere, and no matter what size screen you see it on, it’s not to be missed. [via EW]
