Got a Tip?

‘Anora’ Actress Mikey Madison Has Interest From Director Greta Gerwig & Also Offered Colleen Hoover Adaptation

Oscar winners tend to get all sorts of offers leading up to the nominations and after securing awards, there is some indication of what Best Actress winner Mikey Madison could be getting up to next after “Anora” won an impressive five statues, four for Sean Baker alone.

A rundown from The Hollywood Reporter collecting “what’s next” for nominees and winners, it was briefly mentioned Madison has been offered an untitled Collen Hoover adaptation from a mystery studio and also spotlights that writer/director Greta Gerwig (“Barbie”), who is currently working on a “Narnia” film at Netflix, is interested in working with her as well. Although, it is less clear what for and for what role.

As mentioned, Gerwig is developing a “Narnia” film that is expected to spawn a wave of films for the streaming service as they hope to expand the fantasy IP created by author C.S. Lewis into a full-fledged franchise. That said, it is worth noting that plenty of non-human characters inhabit the world of Narnia (which could allow for high-profile actors to play or voice various mythical creatures) and that the project is indeed in the casting phase. Gerwig is a very busy creative juggling a bunch of projects made public (like a potential follow-up to the billion-dollar hit “Barbie” that is slowly developing) and some not so much.

Hoover saw her novel “It Ends With Us” adapted into the Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni film that was released last year. The working relationship between the two soured during filming and turned into a recent legal battle. Those sexual harassment claims made by Lively revealed that she felt uncomfortable while shooting the drama with Baldoni (who both directed and co-starred) that explored romance and domestic violence.

Madison has plenty of options and I’m sure if Baker comes up with some new ideas, he might consider reaching out as well.
