Remember the “Catcher In The Rye” and oedipal-esque Scottish indie film “Hallem Foe,” renamed “Mister Foe” for the U.S. starring Jamie Bell (of “Billy Elliot” fame) , Claire Forlani and Sophie Myles? It’s been pushed back this spring/summer more times than a hopeless loser in high school against a locker, but it’s finally coming out (unless they push the release date again) September 5th. Which means we finally have a locked in release date for the soundtrack (unless…) which features Franz Ferdinand, Psapp, Juana Molina, Clinic, Junior Boys and Orange Juice (yes, the soundtrack is completely curated by Domino Records, a Scottish label with many a Scottish band on its roster)
Due September 9 physically and September 2 digitally, the soundtrack disc also features Hood, Movietone, Sons & Daughters and that band Cinema we hate (cause we had a band post-college called Cinema and then we realized they had jacked our name first).
Synopsis: Jamie Bell plays Hallam Foe, a troubled young man whose knack for voyeurism paradoxically reveals his darkest fears, and his most peculiar desires. A 17-year-old misfit, Hallam spends his days spying on people from a tree house on the grounds of his father’s (Ciarán Hinds) house in the Scottish Highlands. He’s almost over the sudden death of his mother when he begins to suspect that his beautiful step mother (Claire Forlani) may have had a played a hand in it. Confusing matters even more for Hallam, he is incredibly attracted to her.
