When you’re a kid, you learn the Moon is made of cheese. But now, we have Hollywood trying to tell us that’s not the case. In “Moonfall,” we learn the Moon is actually not made of delicious dairy products but instead the home of some sort of evil alien presence. Lame.

As seen in the trailer, “Moonfall” tells the story of three people who have to risk it all by flying into space to fight the Moon. They’re going to shoot guns at the Moon because it is actually heading towards Earth for some reason and there’s an evil alien that looks to destroy our lovely planet. You know, as things tend to go.
The three people chosen to save our world in Roland Emmerich’s latest disaster film are Halle Berry, Patrick Wilson, and John Bradley. For those unaware of what Emmerich has worked on in the past (and shame on you, if so!), the filmmaker is best known for end-of-the-world disaster films such as “Independence Day,” “2012,” “The Day After Tomorrow,” and “Midway.” (Ok, maybe that last one doesn’t qualify, but it is a disaster, amirite?!)
“Moonfall” arrives in theaters on February 4. You can watch the new trailer below.
Here’s the synopsis:
In Moonfall, a mysterious force knocks the Moon from its orbit around Earth and sends it hurtling on a collision course with life as we know it. With mere weeks before impact and the world on the brink of annihilation, NASA executive and former astronaut Jo Fowler (Academy Award® winner Halle Berry) is convinced she has the key to saving us all — but only one astronaut from her past, Brian Harper (Patrick Wilson, “Midway”) and a conspiracy theorist K.C. Houseman (John Bradley, “Game of Thrones”) believe her. These unlikely heroes will mount an impossible last-ditch mission into space, leaving behind everyone they love, only to find out that our Moon is not what we think it is.
