It’s not an Aaron Sorkin project, but it “The Morning Show” definitely looks like something similar; a behind-the-scenes look at the making of a major network TV morning show newscast. It definitely has vibes from Sorkin’s “The Newsroom” and it’s the flagship show of Apple’s streaming channel, the would-be Netflix competitor AppleTV+. The show comes from executive producers Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, Jay Carson, and Michael Ellenberg. The series is directed by Mimi Leder and written by Kerry Ehrin, who also serves as showrunner.

“The Morning Show” is an inside look at the lives of the people who help America wake up in the morning, exploring the unique challenges faced by the men and women who carry out this daily televised ritual. The show stars Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon, along with Steve Carell, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Billy Crudup, Néstor Carbonell, and Mark Duplass. AppleTV+, trying to be competitive, has obviously spared no expense on this cast.

There’s no release date on “The Morning Show” yet other than it’s expected to launch this fall with AppleTV+.
