Though “Don’t Worry Darling” didn’t get the same reception from critics as her debut “Booksmart”—not to mention the behind-the-scenes drama surrounding the 2022 film—Olivia Wilde is still a filmmaker who is in high-demand. And it appears she has found her next feature, a Christmas comedy titled, “Naughty.”

According to Deadline, Olivia Wilde has been hired to direct “Naughty,” the new Christmas comedy from Lucky Chap productions, the company co-founded by Margot Robbie. Written by Jimmy Warden (“Cocaine Bear”), the film follows Mallory, a woman who is deep in a custody dispute with her ex and has to go to the North Pole to find Santa to get him to testify on her behalf. The report claims it’s “Bridesmaids” but Christmas.
As mentioned, Wilde broke out as a filmmaker with the critical darling, “Booksmart.” From there, she went for a bigger film, the aforementioned “Don’t Worry Darling.” That film was dogged by mixed reviews, as well as just a ton of rumors and speculation about Wilde’s feud with star Florence Pugh and other folks involved. Not only that, Wilde has seemingly been involved in her own custody dispute due to her failed marriage to Jason Sudeikis. Who can forget the infamous CinemaCon moment when Wilde was served court documents while on stage?

Needless to say, Wilde is probably looking for a win right about now, and a Christmas comedy seems like a pretty good avenue to go down. People love Christmas comedies, and Wilde really did show her prowess with the genre in “Booksmart.”
It’s still too early to know when we might see “Naughty,” but you have to assume it’ll arrive at some point around the Christmas holiday.
