With Neill Blomkamp‘s “Alien 5” effectively kiboshed by Ridley Scott (I’d wager that it’s much more than just “on hold”), the director now has to turn his attention elsewhere. The goodwill extended to toward the filmmaker after “District 9” is fading fast following the disappointing “Elysium” and this year’s “Chappie” (though I’m definitely a fan of the latter), but he’s lining up a new movie, and his first adaptation of someone else’s work.
Deadline reports that Blomkamp will bring “Tomorrow And Tomorrow” author Thomas Sweterlitsch‘s new novel “The Gone World” to the big screen. The book is yet to be published, but will find the director diving into a “time travel procedural,” so we’ll see how that plays out.
The project is set up at Fox, and Blomkamp will write the script in addition to directing.
