Never Seen 'Twin Peaks'? Catch Up Before The New Episodes With A Handy Video Recap

There’s so much going on these days — the upcoming Cannes line-up, the release of blockbusters like “Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2,” the constantly nagging threat that we might all soon be blown up by a bloated, tangerine-colored, narcissistic, deeply insecure reality-show host — that it’s almost easy to forget that we’re now just a few weeks away from the return of “Twin Peaks.”

It’s been over 25 years since the classic, hugely influential show was last on the air, and a full 10 since the last time David Lynch directed anything of note, so the show’s return is undoubtedly one of the major pop-culture events of 2017. But what if, like this writer, you haven’t actually seen the show (look, I was a child when it was on, alright)?

Well, you still have a few weeks to catch up on the two seasons to date and the prequel movie ‘Fire Walks With Me,’ but if you’re struggling for time, Showtime have helpfully released a featurette/recap thing to fill you in. As a newcomer to the series, I can’t say it’s massively helpful, but it at least helps capture the tone and the vague plot beats, and I am still going to try to get my head down and watch the whole thing. The bad news is that there’s less than a month to go: the first new episodes will screen within the first few days of Cannes before airing on Showtime on May 21st. Watch the recap below.
