“I hope everyone gets to work with their best friend at least once in their lifetime. I know I can’t wait to finally do it,” Ryan Reynolds says sarcastically in the text for the new “Deadpool & Wolverine” teaser released today on National Best Friends Day.
What’s new in this trailer for “Deadpool & Wolverine,” given we’ve already seen a few teasers now? Well, Reynolds always said that his original pitch for a team-up with Hugh Jackman was a road trip movie, and certainly, this new teaser suggests that that’s still the case.
Additionally, some of the spoiler-ly synopses for the film have suggested the film will take a tour through the past of the MCU, much like “Avengers: Endgame,” and we certainly get a few more scenes that suggest at least some of it takes place during the winter forest sequences.
From there, most of it seems to take place in this in-between place of the world where the 20th Century Fox logo lays waste in rubble, and Emma Corrin’s telepathic Cassandra Nova villain character seems to reside within a giant shell of Ant-Man’s suit.
Some of this teaser shows clips of scenes that have leaked online, the diner sequence, the meta Paul Rudd does age line, and, of course, lots of fractious friction between the two heroes that appear to have to work together against their will to save the Multiverse—the TVA seemingly in the background of the whole story.
On top of that, there’s that notorious Silence Your Phones PSA that was shown at CinemaCon that’s officially made its way online, and you can watch that too, all it’s bleeped out F-bombs and all (ironic given the movie has an R-rating).
Here’s Disney’s very vague synopsis for the film:
Wolverine is recovering from his injuries when he crosses paths with the loudmouth Deadpool. They team up to defeat a common enemy.
And here’s the uncensored profane version,
Marvel Studios presents their most significant mistake to date – Deadpool & Wolverine. A listless Wade Wilson toils away in civilian life. His days as the morally flexible mercenary, Deadpool, behind him. When his homeworld faces an existential threat, Wade must reluctantly suit up again with an even more reluctantlier… reluctanter? Reluctantest? He must convince a reluctant Wolverine to – F*ck. Synopses are so fucking stupid.
“Deadpool & Wolverine” stars Reynolds and Hugh Jackman star as Deadpool and Wolverine, respectively, alongside Emma Corrin, Morena Baccarin, Rob Delaney, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni, and Matthew Macfadyen. Brianna Hildebrand, Stefan Kapičić, Shioli Kutsuna, Aaron Stanford and Jennifer Garner also co-star.
Directed by Shawn Levy, Marvel Studios’ “Deadpool & Wolverine” opens in in theaters on July 26. Watch the trailers and PSAs below.
